Role Overview
Provide technical guidance and full lifecycle project management for roofing, waterproofing, exterior wall, and fenestration systems. This role supports projects from early design through construction, ensuring performance, constructability, and alignment with design intent in collaboration with architects, engineers, contractors, and owner representatives.
Design & Documentation
- Support building envelope design from Schematic Design through Construction Administration
- Develop conceptual solutions and define performance criteria
- Select appropriate materials and assemblies
- Prepare and coordinate technical specifications
- Ensure construction drawings are accurate and aligned with specifications
Fieldwork & Investigations
- Conduct forensic investigations of failing or underperforming building envelope systems
- Perform field assessments and produce technical reports
- Validate shop drawings, submittals, and roof drainage calculations
- Inspect construction for compliance with design intent
Project & Financial Management
- Lead bidding, RFIs, addenda, and OCA meetings
- Collaborate with CAD teams to develop plans, details, and scope documents
- Review inspection reports and resolve construction issues
- Manage project budgets, invoicing, expenses, and financial performance
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Architecture (or relevant studies).
- Minimum 5 years' experience in building envelope design, inspections, construction, QA/QC, or materials testing.
- Strong technical expertise in roofing, waterproofing, exterior walls, and fenestration systems.
- Familiarity with applicable industry standards (ASTM, IBC, AAMA, ABAA, NRCA).
- Excellent written, verbal, and technical reporting skills.
- Preferred certifications: ABAA Inspector, RRO, or IIBEC (or willingness to obtain).
- Valid driver's license and ability to conduct fieldwork.
Travel Requirements
- Up to 40% travel, including both scheduled and short‑notice site visits.
- Work may be conducted in outdoor or active construction environments requiring PPE and strict adherence to safety protocols.
Physical & Environmental Demands
- Fieldwork on uneven or rugged terrain.
- Exposure to varying weather, noise, dust, and construction‑site conditions.
- Ability to lift 35-75 lbs, climb, kneel, crouch, and perform inspection‑related physical tasks.
- Capability to communicate effectively in noisy environments and conduct detailed visual assessments.
