Job summary

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/GED or trade school diploma is required.
  • 4 years of job-related experience preferred.
  • Universal CFC certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Comply with regulations and safety directives for building operations.
  • Inspect fire alarms, HVAC, and plumbing to ensure proper operation.
  • Oversee work by outside contractors (landscaping, HVAC, plumbing, cleaning).
  • Perform repairs and preventive maintenance; maintain records.
  • Estimate time/materials for tasks and order supplies.
  • Maintain energy management to minimize operating costs.
  • Maintain lighting systems; perform related tasks.
  • Respond to emergencies and coordinate additional support as needed.
  • Additional responsibilities may be assigned.

About the Role:

As a CBRE Building Engineer you will utilize advanced skills to perform complex preventive maintenance and corrective repair of buildings, industrial systems, vehicles, equipment and grounds. Working under limited supervision, monitor building system operations and performance. The role requires several trade skills such as carpentry, plumbing, electrical, painting, roofing, heating and cooling.

What You'll Do:
  • Comply with all applicable regulations, codes, governmental agency and Company directives related to building operations and work safety.
  • Inspect building systems including fire alarms, HVAC, and plumbing to ensure operation of equipment is within design capabilities and achieves environmental conditions, prescribed by the client.
  • Oversee and inspect the work performed by outside contractors. Contracted work may include landscaping, snow removal, remodeling, HVAC, plumbing, and cleaning.
  • Perform assigned repairs, emergency and preventive maintenance. Complete maintenance and repair records as required.
  • Review assigned work orders. Estimate time and materials needed to complete the job, and order the necessary materials and supplies to complete all tasks.
  • Maintain an energy management program to ensure measures are taken to operate all systems in the most efficient manner to keep operating costs at a minimum.
  • Maintain the building lighting system, including element and ballast repairs or replacements.
  • Perform welding, carpentry, furniture assembly and locksmith tasks as needed
  • Respond quickly to emergency situations, arranging additional assistance as needed.

  • High School Diploma, general education degree (GED), or a trade school diploma, with 4 years of job related experience.
  • Universal CFC certification preferred.
  • Additional certification in one or more of the following: electrical, mechanical, HVAC and refrigeration systems, process controls, mechanical power transmissions, painting, plumbing, carpentry or engine repair. Certifications/licenses as may be required by local or state jurisdictions.
  • Ability to comprehend and interpret instructions, short correspondence, and memos, and ask clarifying questions to ensure understanding.
  • Capability to write routine reports and correspondence and to respond to common inquiries or complaints from clients, co-workers, and/or supervisor.
  • Be able to effectively present information to internal colleagues.
  • Practical problem solving skills and the capability to assess possible solutions using technical expertise to apply suitable judgment and precedents.
  • Basic computer skills; utilizing the work order system, Microsoft Outlook, ESS and training.
  • Meet the physical requirements of this role including stooping, standing, walking, climbing stairs/ ladders, and the ability to lift/ carry heavy loads of 40 lbs. or more.
  • Strong organizational skills with an inquisitive mindset.
  • Full health and safety compliance, including but not limited to, training completion, following & instructing policies & procedures, supporting audits & assessments and reporting any HSE concerns.
  • Valid Driver's license may be required.
