Eccalon LLC is seeking a Building Engineer to oversee daily operation, maintenance, and reliability of all building systems at the corporate headquarters in Detroit. You will serve as the technical lead for facilities operations, ensuring a safe, efficient environment for executives, staff, and visitors.

The role requires strong technical expertise, leadership, and a proactive, service-oriented mindset, with a focus on preventative maintenance, compliance, and cost-control initiatives.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience as a Building Engineer or Facilities Engineer with senior responsibilities.
  • Strong expertise in HVAC, electrical, plumbing and mechanical operations.
  • Experience supporting corporate offices or headquarters environments; able to lead facilities ops independently.

Responsibilities

  • Lead operation, maintenance, and repair of HQ building systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, life-safety).
  • Serve as primary technical contact for headquarters facilities operations.
  • Develop and oversee preventative maintenance schedules and programs.
  • Coordinate vendors, contractors, and service providers for repairs and capital projects.
  • Support executive offices and high-profile meetings with priority service; maintain logs and compliance records.

Job Description

The Building Engineer is responsible for overseeing the daily operation, maintenance, and reliability of all building systems at the corporate headquarters. This role serves as the technical lead for facilities operations, ensuring a safe, efficient, and well-maintained environment that supports executive leadership, staff, and visitors. The position requires strong technical expertise, leadership capabilities, and a proactive, service-oriented mindset.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and oversee the operation, maintenance, and repair of all HQ building systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and life-safety systems
  • Serve as the primary technical point of contact for headquarters facilities operations
  • Perform advanced troubleshooting and resolve complex building system issues
  • Develop, execute, and oversee preventative maintenance schedules and programs
  • Conduct regular inspections and walkthroughs to ensure building integrity, safety, and appearance
  • Coordinate and manage vendors, contractors, and service providers for repairs, inspections, and capital projects
  • Support executive offices, conference spaces, and high-profile meetings with priority service and minimal disruption
  • Maintain detailed maintenance logs, work orders, compliance records, and reports
  • Ensure compliance with all local codes, safety regulations, and corporate standards
  • Support sustainability, energy efficiency, and cost-control initiatives
  • Provide on-call or after-hours support as required for HQ operations
  • Mentor and guide junior building engineers or facilities staff, if applicable
Required Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience as a Building Engineer or Facilities Engineer, with senior-level responsibilities
  • Strong expertise in HVAC systems, electrical systems, plumbing, and mechanical operations
  • Demonstrated experience supporting corporate offices or headquarters environments
  • Ability to lead facilities operations independently and make sound technical decisions
  • Excellent troubleshooting, problem-solving, and organizational skills
  • Strong communication skills and a professional demeanor when interacting with executives and staff
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical documentation
  • Familiarity with building management systems (BMS) and preventative maintenance programs
  • HVAC, EPA Universal, electrical, or facilities-related certifications
  • Experience working in Class A office buildings or executive-level environments
  • Familiarity with CMMS systems and facilities documentation standards
  • Experience leading vendor relationships and small project execution
