Job summary

Compass Group USA's ESFM division seeks a full-time Building Engineer - MEP at 5420 John Cannon Drive, Salt Lake City, UT 84116. You will perform skilled maintenance on electrical, mechanical, and plumbing systems within a commercial environment and provide field leadership to ensure quality and safety.

The role requires experience with HVAC and building systems, ability to supervise a team, and readiness to handle complex repairs, preventive maintenance, and vendor coordination.

Qualifications

• Six to eight years of experience as a maintenance technician in an institutional setting in an engineering or maintenance discipline.

Responsibilities

• Assists in decisions on repairs; reports major problems to the maintenance supervisor and foreman.
• Constructs, installs, maintains and repairs electrical and mechanical systems, or the facilities of any related systems, using power and hand tools and other necessary equipment.
• Cleans, lubricates, services, repairs or diagnoses malfunction of HVAC, electrical and mechanical building systems, sterilizers, sprinkler and standpipe systems, transport systems, electronic signaling systems, fire alarm systems and similar specialty equipment items with appropriate training, certification skills and licensing requirements as needed.
• Supervises and leads a group of workers on a project.
• Reads, comprehends and transmits complicated detailed instructions verbally and in writing.
• Teaches advanced maintenance skills to other members of the department.
• Reviews work of outside vendors and licensed maintenance workers; makes punch lists.
• Reports on and repairs discrepancies as assigned.
• Analyzes and corrects complex building system problems, alone or as part of a team.
• Maintains logs, performs rounds and completes work orders, tests and inspections.
• Makes recommendations for modification or improvement of preventive maintenance systems.
• Serves as a member of facility emergency response team.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
