Job summary

Compass Group USA, ESFM division, invites applications for a full-time Building Engineer - MEP at our Florence, KY location. The role maintains HVAC, electrical and mechanical systems across facilities, with leadership duties, training support, and escalation management.

The position requires skilled-trades education, several years of institutional maintenance experience, and licensure as a Journeyman in one trade or related certifications. Competitive hourly pay with day/night/overnight shifts.

Qualifications

• Four years of skilled trade school or maintenance vocational schooling.
• Five years of experience as a maintenance technician in an institutional setting in an engineering or maintenance discipline.
• Two years of experience as a licensed Journeyman in the specialized trade.

Responsibilities

• Assists in making decisions on all normal and complex repairs; reports major problems to the maintenance supervisor and foreman.
• Constructs, finishes, installs, maintains and repairs electrical and mechanical systems, or facilities of related systems.
• Cleans, lubricates, services, repairs or diagnoses malfunction of HVAC, electrical and mechanical building systems, including sterilizers, sprinkler and standpipe systems, and fire alarm systems.
• Supervises and leads a group of workers on a project.
• Reads and transmits complicated instructions verbally and in writing.
• Teaches advanced maintenance skills to other department members.
• Reviews work of outside vendors and licensed maintenance workers; creates punch lists.

• Requirement: Preferred experience supporting mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems in commercial, industrial, or critical environments, including maintenance, troubleshooting, and basic system knowledge.
• Pay Range:$29.00per hour to$35.00per hour
  • Shift differential applies: Day shift ($29.00/hr), Night shift ($30.00/hr), Overnight/Grave shift ($35.00/hr)

Job Summary

Summary: Performs a variety of skilled maintenance duties related to facility engineering and maintenance functions, while providing field leadership, ensuring quality assurance, supporting training efforts, and managing escalations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Assists in making decisions on all normal and complex repairs; reports major problems to the maintenance supervisor and foreman.
• Constructs, finishes, installs, maintains and repairs electrical and mechanical systems, or the facilities of any related systems, using power and hand tools and other necessary equipment.
• Cleans, lubricates, services, repairs or diagnoses malfunction of HVAC, electrical and mechanical building systems, sterilizers, sprinkler and standpipe systems, transport systems, electronic signaling systems, fire alarm systems and similar specialty equipment items with appropriate training, certification skills and licensing requirements as needed.
• Supervises and leads a group of workers on a project.
• Reads, comprehends and transmits complicated detailed instructions verbally and in writing.
• Teaches advanced maintenance skills to other members of the department.
• Reviews work of outside vendors and licensed maintenance workers; makes punch lists.
• Reports on and repairs discrepancies as assigned.
• Analyzes and corrects complex building system problems, alone or as part of a team.
• Maintains logs, performs rounds and completes work orders, tests and inspections.
• Makes recommendations for modification or improvement of preventive maintenance systems.
• Serves as a member of facility emergency response team.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Four years of skilled trade school or maintenance vocational schooling.
• Five years of experience as a maintenance technician in an institutional setting in an engineering or maintenance discipline.
• Two years of experience as a licensed Journeyman in the specialized trade.

Must have one of the following

• Master license in one trade or two of the following Journeyman Electrical License or Registered ACR Technician with EPA certification in Refrigerant, or a Journeyman Plumber License, etc.
• Valid driver’s license.
