Job description

Join to apply for the Building Engineer III, Engineering Services role at Cameron University.

Responsibilities

  1. Under immediate supervision of a Senior Engineer and/or Physical Plant Engineer, directs and/or supervises university plumbers, electricians, preventive maintenance mechanics, and refrigeration mechanics engaged in the operation, maintenance, and repair of building support equipment in assigned buildings or grounds.
  2. Assists in preventive maintenance and repairs on commercial refrigerators, freezers, ice-makers, electrical air conditioning, and heating systems including chilled water systems, air compressors, and pneumatic controls.
  3. Repairs building electrical systems.
  4. Services exposed water, gas, and sewer systems; checks building security and fire alarms.
  5. Performs minor service and maintenance on chemical water treating systems.
  6. May be required to work nights or weekends.
  7. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent, vocational or technical training in refrigeration, air conditioning and heating, electrical, mechanical, or plumbing.
  • Three years of experience in maintenance and operation of physical plant systems.
  • Refrigerant certification Type I and II from an EPA-approved agency.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineer drawings and manuals; perform preventive maintenance.
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Valid Oklahoma driver's license.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proven supervisory experience.
  • Five years of maintenance and operation experience in physical plant systems.
  • Vocational training in physical plant installation and maintenance.
  • EPA Section 608 Technician Universal Certification.
  • Working towards or holding a license in HVAC, Electrical, or Plumbing issued by the State of Oklahoma.

Physical Requirements

  • Exposure to physically demanding tasks in extreme weather.
  • Lifting and carrying loads over 50 pounds.
  • Frequent bending, stooping, kneeling, and overhead work.
  • Climbing ladders, working at heights, and in confined spaces.
  • May be designated as an "essential position" during emergencies and may require overnight stays.
