Job summary

CBRE Group, Inc. is seeking a Building Engineer to maintain a large hospital campus in Brenham, TX. The role is hands-on, ensuring safe, reliable operation of critical healthcare infrastructure, with a focus on preventive maintenance and timely repairs.

You will work primarily a first shift (7:00 AM - 4:00 PM, Monday–Friday), handling mechanical, electrical, HVAC, and plumbing tasks, completing work orders, and supporting energy management initiatives to keep systems efficient and compliant.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED plus 4-5 years of related experience, or a combination of experience and education.
  • Universal CFC certification preferred and any local licensing requirements.
  • Prior shift management or supervisory experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain facilities across a large healthcare campus including a hospital and clinics.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on mechanical, electrical, HVAC, and plumbing systems.
  • Conduct routine inspections, diagnose issues, and perform timely repairs following codes and safety rules.
  • Complete work orders using tracking systems and document actions taken.
  • Respond quickly to emergency maintenance tickets and critical failures.
  • Handle plumbing tasks such as unclogging drains, valves, faucets, and leaks.
  • Maintain HVAC by replacing belts and adjusting temperatures in patient rooms.
  • Perform light building upkeep: change fixtures, patch/paint, replace ceiling tiles.
  • Address electrical issues, reset breakers, and troubleshoot systems.
  • Assist with installation and modification of equipment; support energy management initiatives.

About the Role:

As a CBRE Building Engineer, you will play a critical role in ensuring the continuous operation and pristine condition of a large hospital campus in Brenham, TX.

This hands‑on position requires comprehensive maintenance, upkeep, and repair of a large hospital campus, building systems, and equipment. Initially, you will work support our first‑shift (7:00 AM - 4:00 PM, Monday‑Friday). Your efforts will directly support the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of critical infrastructure essential to healthcare delivery.

What You’ll Do:
  • Maintain facilities across the large healthcare campus that includes a hospital and multiple small clinics.
  • Perform ongoing preventive maintenance and corrective repairs on a wide range of building systems, including mechanical, electrical, HVAC, and plumbing.
  • Conduct routine maintenance inspections to diagnose potential problems and execute timely repairs, ensuring adherence to building codes and safety regulations.
  • Complete assigned work orders efficiently and accurately, utilizing available systems for tracking and documentation.
  • Respond promptly to emergency maintenance tickets and critical system failures.
  • Execute general plumbing maintenance tasks such as unclogging drains, changing valves, replacing faucets, and repairing leaks.
  • Perform HVAC maintenance, including replacing belts and adjusting temperatures in patient rooms.
  • Conduct building upkeep, including changing light fixtures, patching and painting, and replacing ceiling tiles.
  • Address general electrical maintenance issues, including resetting breakers and troubleshooting electrical systems.
  • Assist with the installation and modification of building equipment and systems as needed.
  • Support energy management initiatives by ensuring all building systems operate efficiently.
  • Use existing procedures to solve straightforward problems. Exchange straightforward information in a clear, concise manner.
  • Impact team through defined duties, methods and tasks as described in detail.
  • Deliver own output by following defined procedures and processes under close supervision and guidance.
What You’ll Need:
  • High School Diploma, GED, or trade school diploma with 4-5 years of job‑related experience. In lieu of a diploma, a combination of experience and education will be considered. Universal CFC certification is preferred. Certifications/licenses as may be required by local or state jurisdictions. Prior shift management or supervisory experience preferred.
  • Meet the physical requirements of this role including stooping, standing, walking, climbing stairs/ladders, and the ability to lift/carry heavy loads of 50 lbs. or more.
  • Ability to exercise judgment based on the analysis of multiple sources of information.
  • Willingness to take a new perspective on existing solutions.
  • In‑depth knowledge of Microsoft Office products. Examples include Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
  • Organizational skills with an advanced inquisitive mindset.
  • Sophisticated math skills. Ability to calculate mildly complex figures such as percentages, fractions, and other financial‑related calculations.
