Job summary

Aerotek is seeking a Building Engineer for a full-time contract-to-hire role in Minneapolis, MN. The position focuses on operating and maintaining building systems in a large commercial skyscraper, with clear potential for advancement to an Assistant Chief Engineer.

Responsibilities include maintaining HVAC, electrical, plumbing and general mechanical systems, while supporting critical facility operations and project work. The role requires on-site work with a rotating on-call schedule.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience troubleshooting HVAC and electrical systems.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience in commercial/critical facilities or Class A buildings.
  • EPA 608 or 609 certification preferred.

Job Title: Building Engineer $30-$36/hr

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Facilities Maintenance professional for a full-time position at a large commercial skyscraper in downtown Minneapolis. This Operating Engineer role offers the possibility of advancing to an Assistant Chief Engineer position, with numerous opportunities for growth within the company.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain and repair chillers, VAVs, air handlers, and related equipment.
  • Service utility generators, UPS systems, and commercial kitchen equipment.
  • Perform plumbing, lighting, and general mechanical maintenance.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot pumps, cooling towers, and motors.
  • Conduct seasonal work, including small engine maintenance in winter and increased pump volume in spring/summer.
  • Perform chemical treatment/testing and filter/belt replacements.
  • Execute preventative maintenance checks, lockout/tagout procedures, and support critical facility operations.
  • Assist with general facilities upkeep and project work, with minimal painting required.
Essential Skills
  • 5+ years of experience troubleshooting HVAC and electrical systems.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft systems, including Excel.
  • Experience in commercial/critical facilities or Class A buildings.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • EPA 608 or 609 certification preferred.

Work Environment

Work hours are 1st shift, 6AM-2:30PM, Monday to Friday. After training, the schedule may rotate to 10AM-6:30PM. This position includes a rotating on-call schedule from Wednesday to Tuesday with five other team members. The work environment is close-knit, emphasizing excellent customer service as you interact with managers and high-level personnel. Attention to detail and the ability to follow instructions are crucial for success in this role.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Minneapolis, MN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $36.00/hr.
