Job summary

CBRE is seeking a Building Engineer to support Nvidia’s Santa Clara campus, applying mechanical expertise to maintain HVAC, plumbing, electrical, fire/life safety, and control systems across multiple buildings.

This on-site role requires 4–5 years of related experience, EPA certification, physical stamina, and proficiency with CMMS and Microsoft Office; you’ll drive energy efficiency and lead preventive maintenance.

Qualifications

• 4–5 years of related experience in building operations.
• EPA Universal or CFC certification required.
• Must meet physical requirements (lift 50 lbs, climb stairs).
• Proficiency with CMMS and MS Office preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance and repairs to mechanical, plumbing, electrical and life-safety systems.
• Ensure systems meet applicable codes and safety policies.
• Maintain an energy management program for efficiency.
• Support preventive maintenance to extend equipment life; perform emergency repairs.

About The Role

Join our CBRE team supporting Nvidia’s world‑class Santa Clara multi-building campus, where your mechanical expertise keeps cutting‑edge innovation moving! We’re seeking a Building Engineer with strong commercial chiller experience to maintain and repair complex HVAC, plumbing, electrical, fire/life safety, and control systems across the site. In this role, you’ll drive energy efficiency, support preventive maintenance programs, and respond to critical repairs that keep the campus running safely and smoothly.

What You’ll Do

• Perform maintenance and repairs to the mechanical, plumbing, structural, furniture, fire, life safety, and control systems. Keep facility and building systems up to applicable standards as assigned.
• Align with all applicable codes, regulations, governmental agency, and company directives related to building operations and work safety.
• Maintain an energy management program. Ensure all systems operate in the most efficient manner.
• Assist with the implementation of a preventive maintenance program to ensure that building machinery and systems meet or exceed their rated life. Perform emergency repairs as needed.
• Follow departmental policies for the safe storage, usage, and disposal of hazardous materials. Maintain a clean and safe workplace.
• Review inspection to building systems including fire alarms, HVAC, and plumbing to ensure operation of equipment is within design capabilities and achieve environmental conditions prescribed by client.
• Lead by example and model behaviors that are consistent with CBRE RISE values. Work to build consensus and convince others to reach an agreement
• Apply advanced knowledge to tackle sophisticated problems, mentor others across fields, and lead by example in alignment with CBRE RISE values to foster collaboration and consensus.

What You’ll Need

• High School Diploma, GED, or trade school diploma or equivalent experience with 4-5 years of job-related experience.
• Universal EPA/ CFC certification required. Certifications/licenses as may be required by local or state jurisdictions.
• Meet the physical requirements of this role including stooping, standing, walking, climbing stairs/ladders, and the ability to lift/carry heavy loads of 50 lbs. or more.
• Ability to exercise judgment based on the analysis of multiple sources of information.
• Willingness to take a new perspective on existing solutions.
• Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams) and prior CMMS experience preferred
• Organizational skills with an inquisitive attitude.
• Sophisticated math skills. Ability to calculate mildly sophisticated figures such as percentages, fractions, and other financial-related calculations.

CBRE carefully considers multiple factors to determine compensation, including a candidate’s education, training, and experience. The minimum salary for the Building Engineer position is $53 per hour and the maximum salary is $58 per hour. The compensation that is offered to a successful candidate will depend on the candidate’s skills, qualifications, and experience.
