Job summary

Crockett Facilities Services, Inc. is seeking a Building Engineer in Reston, VA to oversee operations, maintenance and repairs of boilers, HVAC, lighting, electrical and related systems. The role is on-site with a 5-person team and reports to the Chief Engineer.

Candidates should have 5+ years of experience in commercial/government buildings, a high school diploma or equivalent, and relevant certifications (Universal CFC). The position requires lifting up to 50–100 lbs and occasional long hours.

Qualifications

• Operates and maintains building systems in commercial/government facilities.
• On-site role reporting to Chief Engineer with a 5-person team.
• Requires licensed status and Universal CFC certification.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily operation of all mechanical equipment and systems.
• Perform maintenance and repairs on mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and life-safety systems.
• Monitor boilers, HVAC, refrigeration, pumps, valves and piping.
• Troubleshoot MEP systems with little or no supervision.
• Handle tenant service requests with minimal disruption.
• Maintain maintenance logs and records.
• Perform preventive maintenance tasks on schedule.
• Follow all safety policies and procedures.
• May work long hours and some weekends.
• Must be licensed and able to obtain US Government clearance.
• Universal CFC certification.

SUMMARY:Thispositionisresponsiblefortheoperations,maintenanceandbuildingrepairofboilerandauxiliaryboilerroomequipment,heating,lighting,ventilating,airconditioning,powerrefrigeration,buildingelectricalandpneumaticcontrols,watertreatment,andothermechanicalandelectricalequipment.ThispositionreportstotheChiefEngineer.

ESSENTIALFUNCTIONSANDBASICDUTIES:

• Controlsthedailyoperationofallmechanicalequipmentinthephysicalplantandbuildings
• PerformsmaintenanceandrepairstotheMechanical,Plumbing,Electrical,Structural,Furniture,Fire,LifeSafety,andControlsystemsforthefacilitytokeepthesesystemsuptoapplicablestandards
• Monitorsoperationsandmaintainsrefrigeration,watercoolingandairconditioningequipment,boilers,heating,ventilatingandhotwaterequipment,pumps,valves,pipingandfilters,othermechanicalandelectricalequipment,changinglightbulbsandballasts
• PerformsadvancedtroubleshootingofBuildingMechanical,Electrical,andPlumbing(MEP)systemswithlittleornosupervision.
• Performsand/orcompletesalltenantservicerequestsaccuratelyandwithminimaldisruptions.
• Maintainsmaintenancelogsandrecords.
• Performspreventativemaintenancetasksinatimelymanner.
• Complieswithallpoliciesandproceduresestablishedforthebuilding.

REQUIREDKNOWLEDGEANDEXPERIENCE:

• 5+yearsofexperiencemaintainingequipmentandsystemsincommercialorgovernmentbuildings
• HighschooldiplomaorGED.Formalvocational/technicaltraininginmaintenance/mechanical/electricalrelatedworkpreferred.
• Demonstratedworkingknowledgeofengineeringandbuildingsystems
