Job description

HTS Engineering Ltd. is the largest independent commercial HVAC manufacturers’ representative in North America, with 20 locations across the US and Canada. HTS is committed to the success of all stakeholders involved in HVAC projects, including employees, suppliers, customers, and end users.

Responsibilities

As a Building Engineer at HTS, your role involves maintaining the operation and maintenance of all building equipment and systems. You will review operating conditions and collaborate with your supervisor to resolve any issues. Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

1. Performing preventive maintenance and repairs on mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems such as pumps, chillers, boilers, air compressors, and air handling units.
2. Adjusting HVAC and related equipment to meet operational criteria within guidelines set by your supervisor.
3. Conducting general repairs and maintenance on building components including fixtures, appliances, plumbing, and electrical systems.
4. Participating in water treatment chemical programs.
5. Maintaining operation logs and files related to plant operations, chemical use, and inspections.
6. Applying HVAC distribution and controls knowledge to address work orders and resolve issues.
7. Responding promptly and courteously to tenant requests, maintaining professional relations with contractors and tenants.
8. Establishing cooperative relationships with the operations team and performing as a team member.
9. Demonstrating proficiency in emergency procedures, including evacuations, bomb searches, life safety alarms, and assisting emergency response teams.

Qualifications

Minimum requirements include:

• High school diploma or equivalent from an accredited institution.
• At least two years of experience in commercial HVAC or related fields.
• Knowledge of Engineering Assessment Guidelines and proficiency in relevant areas.
• Ability to read and use testing equipment, including multimeters, pressure and temperature devices, airflow measuring tools, and leak detection devices.
• Proper use of basic hand tools and power tools.
• Ability to interpret instructions and manuals.
• Mathematical skills for equipment testing and operations.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Computer skills for managing engineering programs.
• Possession of relevant licenses or permits as required by local regulations.
• Ability to work indoors and outdoors, lift at least 25 lbs, and climb stairs and ladders.
