CBRE Richardson, TX seeks a skilled Building Engineer to support two-building campus totaling ~90,000 sq ft, ensuring safe, reliable operations on a 12-hour rotating night shift. You will maintain mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and life-safety systems, manage energy use, and implement preventive maintenance.

A valid driver’s license required to travel between buildings. This role offers a path within a global real estate leader, with opportunities to apply your critical environment experience

Qualifications

  • 3–5 years in critical environment operations (data centers, hospitals, or industrial plants).
  • EPA/CFC or universal certification preferred; licensed electrician.
  • Experience with BMS and EPMS systems.

Responsabilités

  • Perform maintenance on mechanical, plumbing, electrical, and life-safety systems.
  • Ensure facility systems meet applicable codes and safety directives.
  • Maintain an energy management program for efficient operation.
  • Assist with preventive maintenance and emergency repairs.
  • Follow policies for hazardous materials storage and safety.
  • Conduct site rounds to inspect MEP systems and identify failures early.
  • Review and update MOP/SOP/ESOP documents during operations.
  • Leverage UPS, generators, switchgear, and CRAHs to ensure reliability.

About the Role:

CBRE is seeking a skilled Building Engineer to support a leading banking and financial services client in Richardson, TX. In this role, you will help maintain and support building operations across a campus consisting of two buildings totaling approximately 90,000 square feet, ensuring a safe, reliable, and efficient environment for occupants.

This position operates on a 12-hour rotating night shift schedule and is ideal for candidates with strong building maintenance experience across HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and general building systems. A valid driver's license is required to operate a company vehicle and travel between buildings on campus. What You'll Do:
  • Perform maintenance and repairs to the mechanical, plumbing, structural, furniture, fire, life safety, and control systems. Keep facility and building systems up to applicable standards as assigned.

  • Comply with all applicable codes, regulations, governmental agency, and company directives related to building operations and work safety.

  • Maintain an energy management program. Ensure all systems operate in the most efficient manner.

  • Assist with the implementation of a preventive maintenance program to ensure that building machinery and systems meet or exceed their rated life. Perform emergency repairs as needed.

  • Follow departmental policies for the safe storage, usage, and disposal of hazardous materials. Maintain a clean and safe workplace.

  • Perform routine site rounds and facility tours to inspect mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems, identifying potential points of failure before they impact operations.

  • Review, update, and execute Method of Procedure (MOP), Standard Operating Procedure (SOP), and Emergency Standard Operating Procedure (ESOP) documents during routine and emergency operations.

  • Utilize your knowledge of power infrastructure, including UPS systems, generators, switchgear, and mechanical cooling systems such as chillers and Computer Room Air Handlers (CRAHs), to drive operational excellence and reliability.

What You'll Need:
  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in critical environment operations, specifically within tiered data centers, critical hospitals, or high-reliability industrial plants.

  • Universal CFC or EPA certification is preferred, licensed electrician, HVAC credentials.

  • Strong proficiency in operating and managing Building Management Systems (BMS) and Electrical Power Monitoring Systems (EPMS).

  • Ability to work flexible schedules, including nights, shift coverage, to support a 24/7/365 operational model.
