X-Factor Consulting is seeking a Building Envelope Consultant for the greater Washington, D.C. area. The role combines office-based analysis with on-site field investigations of commercial and housing structures to evaluate envelope performance and plan repairs.

You will define modernization approaches, prepare assessment reports, drawings, and bid documents, and coordinate with design teams and stakeholders. Regular travel to sites and the ability to work in occupied facilities are required.

Qualificações

• Bachelor’s degree in civil, structural, or architectural engineering, or related field.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license is required.
• 5+ years in envelope consulting, forensic evaluation, restoration design, building science, or existing-building engineering.
• Hands-on experience conducting condition assessments, diagnosing envelope failures, and developing repair designs.
• Working knowledge of roof assemblies, waterproofing, cladding, fenestration, sealants, balconies, and exterior wall systems.
• Strong technical writing skills, including clear investigation reports and construction documentation.
• Historic or landmark rehabilitation experience is a plus
• Ability to work in office, remote, and field settings, including rooftops, occupied facilities, and active construction sites, with regular site travel and occasional lifting up to 40 pounds while using required PPE.
