This position offers an experienced code professional the opportunity to take a leadership role in ensuring safe construction, consistent code enforcement and responsive service to the community.
The Building Code Official / Code Enforcement Officer administers and enforces Borough codes and ordinances related to construction, zoning, property maintenance and public health and safety.
The position works directly with residents, contractors, businesses, developers, Borough staff, consultants and legal counsel. The BCO also coordinates third-party inspectors and provides professional guidance on building, zoning and code enforcement matters.
This position includes both office and field work. Regular site and property inspections are required. The employee must be able to perform administrative work for extended periods and occasionally lift materials or equipment weighing up to 25 pounds.
The position involves frequent interaction with residents, property owners, contractors, developers, legal representatives and government officials.
