Building Code Inspector and Plans Examiner

Position Summary: As a Plan Reviewer at Tew & Taylor, you will review construction plans to ensure compliance with the Florida Building Code and local regulations. You will work with clients, contractors, and authorities to facilitate permits and construction processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing plans for compliance.
  • Provide feedback to clients on corrections or clarifications needed.
  • Complete reviews within set timeframes to meet service commitments.
  • Communicate with contractors, professionals, and officials to resolve issues.
  • Stay updated on building code changes and apply them.
  • Maintain records of reviews, correspondence, and project status.
  • Collaborate with the inspection team for seamless project progression.

Qualifications:

  • At least 5 years of experience in building code review or related field.
  • Plans Examiner certification or ability to obtain within six months (preferred: ICC or Florida certification).
  • Strong knowledge of Florida Building Code across disciplines.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction documents.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented with multitasking abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and permitting software (preferred).
