Trane Technologies in NYC/LI is seeking a Building Automation Area Service Manager to lead all activities including service contracts, system upgrades, repairs, and lifetime connectivity with customers. You will coordinate field service, manage technicians and oversee invoicing, with focus on customer satisfaction and value delivery.

You will drive team development, ensure safety and regulatory compliance, and travel to customer sites as required to support installations and ongoing service.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of four years’ experience in industrial sales settings.
  • Minimum of three years’ experience leading teams, processes and budgets.
  • Knowledge of HVAC controls and building automation systems preferred.
  • Salesforce experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee service coordination to respond to customers and manage field technicians.
  • Coach, train and develop service employees; drive continuous improvement.
  • Manage billing and cash flow; ensure invoices are generated after work.
  • Improve processes to enhance customer experience and satisfaction.
  • Ensure safety compliance and training for the service team.

Job Summary

Trane in NYC / LI is hiring for a Building Automation Area Service Manager to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for providing leadership for all activities including implementation of services contracts, system upgrades, repairs, and lifetime connectivity with that customer. Processes within that oversight include support of sales through contract pricing on parts and service, field service coordination, management of technicians, invoicing and collections, and customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee the service coordination function to respond efficiently to customers, ensure technicians’ training and skill level is appropriately balanced to service customers, and leverage resources across the area. This includes emergency repair, regular maintenance contracts, scheduled work and upgrades, installations, replacement components, and long-term service agreements.
  • Effectively attract, coach, counsel, train and develop all service employees. Drive continuous improvement through company performance management process and technical product training programs available. Develop employee skill levels, including customer service, process, and technical skills to the highest degree possible.
  • Maximize cash flow by ensuring invoices are generated immediately upon completion of work, managing expense budgets, and increasing utilization of the service team. Ensure that standard service work processes are created and followed.
  • Improve all processes impacting the customer experience and increase overall customer satisfaction.
  • Ensure environmental, health and safety compliance within service team. Provide training to all employees to ensure a safe and productive work environment both in the shop and at customer sites.
  • Travel to customer job sites is required, which may include outdoor work and/or work in mechanical/equipment rooms. During the site visits, the employee may be exposed to variable weather conditions; moving mechanical parts; heights, and other variable environmental conditions based on location.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, engineering technology, business or equivalent from a four-year college or university preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of four (4) years’ experience in an industrial sales business setting. Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in managing teams of people, processes, and budgets.
  • Knowledge of HVAC Controls and Building Automation Systems preferred.
  • Knowledge of Salesforce preferred.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license for a minimum of 12 months, with no major or frequent traffic violations included, but not limited to:
    • DUI, Hit & Run, License Suspension, Reckless/Careless Driving or multiple smaller infractions or preventable collisions in the previous 3 years.
