Job Details:

The City of Gainesville's Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs Department is seeking a dependable, customer service-oriented individual for a Temporary Part-Time Building Attendant position in the Cultural Affairs Division. This position is primarily responsible for facility maintenance, cleanliness, setup, and general upkeep at Cultural Affairs facilities. The position will conduct regular facility and site visits to identify maintenance and operational needs and enter service requests into the City's Facility Dude system.

The Building Attendant will also assist with basic facility operations and support the Cultural Affairs Division with other arts, culture, and facility-related needs. The position will assist with major events and programs, including the Free Fridays Concert Series, Gainesville Great Pumpkin Bash, Downtown Festival and Art Show, Holiday Tree Lighting, and other special events as needed.

This position averages approximately 20-25 hours per week, with hours scheduled based on program and event needs, including evenings and weekends.

EXAMPLES OF WORK

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Performs general janitorial and attendant work at assigned building facilities and grounds, including set-up and clean-up after events and activities.

Moves and lifts heavy equipment, tables, chairs, and other objects to prepare for and clean up after events and programs.

Locks and unlocks facilities and notifies appropriate authorities in event of emergency.

Monitors events and programs and assists as needed.

Enforces strict applicable rules and regulations by informing general public participants.

Attends work on continuous and regular basis.

NON-ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

May perform lead worker or supervisory duties with contract and temporary employees.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Completion of high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma, and one year experience in janitorial work that includes public contact, or any equivalent combination of education and experience.

LICENSES/CERTIFICATES

Valid Florida Driver's License required.
