Job summary

Smithfield Foods in Wisconsin (Cudahy) is seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician to perform diverse building repairs and plumbing tasks within a plant environment. The role requires welding, pipe layout, soldering, and safe operation of tools, with preference for carpentry, roofing, and plumbing experience.

Responsibilities

  • Perform building repairs including masonry, tuck pointing, concrete and epoxy flooring.
  • Install and lay out pipes; understand plumbing codes and sewer cleaning equipment.
  • Operate maintenance tools safely and effectively.
  • Demonstrates welding skills and working with copper, stainless steel, galvanized steel and PVC pipes.
  • Perform maintenance renovation and construction tasks; analyze and plan work.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Crew Leader and Supervisor.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsibilities and tasks are written as follows:

  • Performs all types of building repairs including masonry including tuck pointing, concrete and finishing, and epoxy flooring. Experience preferred in carpentry, roofing installation, shoring, painting, sewers, snow removal, and plumbing,
  • Performs and understands the installation/layout of all pipes
  • Understands current plumbing codes and all sewer cleaning equipment.
  • Performs soldering and working with pro press system
  • Demonstrates welding skills
  • Knowledge of the use of copper stainless steel, galvanized steel, and PVC pipes
  • Demonstrates thorough skills in maintenance renovation and constructions of all types.
  • Analyzes and plans work.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of wood structure of old buildings.
  • Safely operates maintenance and construction tools.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Crew Leader and Supervisor.

  • Noise level is loud in the production area and hearing protection is always required.
  • Must be able to lift up to 60lbs.
SAFETY EQUIPMENT/TRAINING REQUIREMENT:
  • Bump cap, hair/beardnet, eye protection/goggles, hand protection, hearing protection and safety shoes
MANDATORY TRAINING/COMPETENCY TO BE EARNED:
  • Proper lifting, Lock/Tag/Try Authorized, Cut/Weld/Hot Work, PIT, Elevator and PPE
