Job summary

Miami University is looking for a Building and Grounds Assistant in Oxford, Ohio. The role involves a variety of custodial tasks to maintain university facilities, including cleaning rooms, hallways, and grounds.

This is a regular, hourly position with a pay rate of $15.85 per hour, requiring a high school diploma or GED. Duties include sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and other necessary cleaning activities.

An ability to follow directions and knowledge of cleaning materials are essential. The work schedule is Monday through Friday, from 4:30 am to 1:00 pm.

Qualifications

  • May require driver's license.
  • Ability to pass a Post-Offer Pre-Employment physical.

Responsibilities

  • Sweep and mop rooms and hallways, dusting and cleaning as needed.
  • Vacuum, shampoo carpets, clean and sanitize restrooms.
  • Pick up trash and litter from buildings and grounds.
  • Assist with maintaining safe surfaces during inclement weather.
  • May assist with events and perform cleaning in dining halls.

Job Description Summary

Performs a variety of tasks, primarily in Custodial/Janitorial Services, related to maintaining the University’s facilities.

Essential Duties
  • Sweeps and mops rooms and hallways; dusts and performs general cleaning of rooms; cleans windows
  • Vacuum and shampoo carpets; may strip and wax floors; clean and sanitize restrooms
  • Picks up trash, debris and/or litter from University buildings and grounds; empties trash receptacles
  • May assist with events
  • Assists with maintaining safe indoor/outdoor surfaces including during inclement weather
  • May pick up and/or deliver equipment and supplies
  • May perform cleaning/washing duties in dining halls
  • May assist with other related campus needs as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
  • Requires a high school diploma or GED
  • No experience required
  • May require driver's license
  • This position requires the ability to successfully pass a Post-Offer Pre-Employment (POPES) physical
