Job summary

United States Digital Space LLC is seeking a Build Engineer for the Crew Starship to develop and optimize manufacturing and test processes for cabin structures, life support, and thermal control components.

You will collaborate with design engineers to transition from design to build, drive high-rate fabrication, and influence overall production strategy and reliability improvements for the vehicle.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering (required).
• 1+ years in manufacturing or integration.
• 2+ years with GD&T concepts.
• Experience with aerospace structures, mechanisms, or interior design/manufacturing.
• Familiarity with process development and facility/line layouts.
• Detailed knowledge of Siemens NX or similar CAD/PLM packages.
• Experience with developing, maintaining, and improving welding processes.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to present recommendations to engineers, teams, and leadership.
• Entrepreneurial, scrappy mindset in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Own the project management, planning, build, and integration of next generation crew spaceflight hardware.
• Develop manufacturing processes, techniques, and tools for high-rate manufacturing of the Crew Starship vehicle (e.g., privacy modules, windows, floors, fans, pumps, dehumidifiers).
• Question requirements, delete parts and processes, simplify/optimize, accelerate, and automate hardware production.
• Coordinate and execute build, qualification, and acceptance testing of systems and tooling to meet deadlines.
• Create original CAD models and prints for flight and/or tooling components.
• Participate in design reviews internally and with suppliers and customers.
