JOB DESCRIPTION: DELI CLERK

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

1. Rotate, stock, and straighten merchandise and supplies.
2. Correctly price all merchandise according to departmental guidelines.
3. Follow proper wrapping and packaging procedures, including the use of the correct size tray, plastic wrap, and/or containers.
4. Perform basic housekeeping duties using available equipment (mops, brooms, floor scrubbing and buffing machines, etc.).
5. Operate all required tools and equipment safely, following all safety policies and procedures, except when restricted due to age.
6. Clean all necessary deli-bakery department tools and equipment.
7. Follow proper procedures for producing bakery/deli products.
8. Stand and/or walk at a rapid pace for extended periods to perform essential functions.
9. Lift and move items weighing up to 50 pounds.

SECONDARY JOB FUNCTIONS:

1. Maintain a neat and clean work area.
2. Perform all job functions with acceptable speed and accuracy.
3. Work with limited supervision.
4. May be required to decorate cakes.
5. Receive and unload truck deliveries using available equipment according to guidelines.
6. Lift and move items weighing over 50 pounds.
7. Work in temperature extremes, such as frozen foods and storage coolers (maximum low temperature -10°F).
8. Order products according to established guidelines in the absence of the deli manager.
9. Perform other duties as assigned.
