* Although this is a hybrid opportunity, the successful incumbent must reside within the State of Washington and must be available to report to the duty station located in Olympia, Washington as needed. The selected candidate may be able to telework/work remotely up to 2 days per week at the discretion of the supervisor.
In-Training: We are recruiting to hire at the Budget Analyst 3 (BA3) or Budget Analyst 4 (BA4) level. We will train a new hire at the BA3 level up to the BA4 level.
Salary: Depending on which level you are hired at, your salary range will be as follows:
Budget Analyst 3 - $4,865.00 - $6,539.00 monthly
Budget Analyst 4 - $5,783.00 - $7,779.00 monthly
Responsibilities:
Embrace this leadership role to provide the framework for all agency budget processes, play a lead role in external budget discussions, and monitor the agency's operating budget status.
Provide critical support to the Budget Officer, Deputy Budget Officer, and Budget Managers in developing, monitoring, and maintaining the agency budget.
With your experience, you will ensure that funding is distributed appropriately, programs are fully allotted without exceeding operating budget authority, provide training to other budget analysts, and produce analysis to agency executives.

Schedule: Typically, 40 hours per week, however, may be required to occasionally work more than 40 hours per week to meet deadlines during peak periods, particularly during budget development.
Travel requirements: Occasionally travel to work sites or training and may be required to stay overnight.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required Qualifications:
This Budget Analyst 4 In-Training series provides mentoring and career development opportunities for candidates with limited related experience.
Candidates will be hired as a Budget Analyst 3 or 4, dependent on qualifications.
Upon satisfactory completion of the 12-month in-training plan, the selected candidate will automatically be promoted to a Budget Analyst 4.
Required Qualifications for the Budget Analyst 3:
Bachelor’s Degree in business, public administration, accounting, economics, statistics, or relevant field; and three (3) years of professional experience in accounting, budget, finance, or public administration.
Or
Current or recent experience as a Budget Analyst 2.
Or
Equivalent education/experience.
Please note: Closely related qualifying experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-by-year basis. A master’s degree in a related field may replace two years of experience.
Required Qualifications for the Budget Analyst 4:
Bachelor’s degree in business, public administration, accounting, economics, statistics, or relevant field, and four (4) years of state budget experience, including one complete biennial cycle, with increasing levels of responsibility.

Current or recent experience as a Budget Analyst 3.
Or
Equivalent education/experience.
