Job summary

The New York State Division of the Budget is seeking a Budget and Policy Analyst to support Family Support State Operations and OCFS. Based in Albany, this full-time role combines budget development, policy analysis, and cross-agency collaboration to strengthen services for children and families.

You will analyze program areas, prepare recommendations, and monitor the State’s Financial Plan while engaging with diverse stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
• Fluency in Excel formulas and functions, and other Microsoft applications.
• Strong written, visual, and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Developing in-depth knowledge of program areas, including detailed analysis of broader trends (e.g. policy area, budgetary and spending trends, economic trends).
• Drafting recommendations and materials to guide decision-making, including projecting trends and data.
• Managing the State’s Financial Plan by projecting and monitoring spending trends and mitigating fiscal risks.
• Examining programmatic activities for aid local assistance programs including the Local Detention, Runaway and Homeless Youth programs, and other youth development programs.
• Budgeting for the state's juvenile justice system including Raise the Age facilities and community-based programs.
