Job summary

The Texas Water Development Board is seeking a Budget Officer (Budget Analyst II) to perform moderately complex budget preparation and analysis, review operating budgets, and provide management with expenditure data and recommendations. You will advise staff on actions to stay within budget, train others when needed, and ensure compliance with records retention, schedules, and related policies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Public Administration, or related field.
• At least 1 year of relevant work experience in financial management, budgeting, or accounting.
• Relevant education and experience can be substituted for each other on a year-for-year basis.
• Experience with MS Excel software including pivot tables, macros, and complex functions is preferred.
• Experience with ABEST software.
• Knowledge of state and federal budgeting laws and processes.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and analyze operating budgets and performance measures.
• Prepare budget reports with expenditure data, trends, and recommendations.
• Advise staff on actions to stay within budget.
• May train others.
• Maintain confidential information.
