PERIKIN Enterprises, LLC is seeking a Budget Analyst to support the U.S. Department of Energy's National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) and its NSDD.

This on-site role is based at DOE Headquarters in Washington, DC, working with federal program staff and senior leadership. You'll gain hands-on experience in federal budgeting, program financial management, forecasting, contract funding, and Congressional budget activity, applying strong analytical skills to meaningful national security

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• At least one year of relevant professional experience.
• Ability to obtain a DOE Q security clearance (Top Secret).

Responsibilities

• Support the federal budget lifecycle (PPBE) by contributing to annual financial programming, planning, budgeting, and evaluation/execution activities.
• Track and analyze program finances across contractors and national laboratories, including costs, commitments, balances, reporting requirements, and monthly reconciliations.
• Monitor financial performance and develop projections to identify funding needs and recommend adjustments to meet targets.
• Build and maintain short- and long-range forecasts, including lifecycle financial models for budget formulation and execution.
• Turn financial data into decision-ready information by preparing, reconciling, and communicating key findings to stakeholders.
• Support Congressional budget activity by developing inputs for inquiries, including impact statements and funding scenarios.
• Interface with CORs and senior leadership to ensure contracts are funded and program requirements are supported.

PERIKIN Enterprises is seeking a Budget Analyst to support the U.S. Department of Energy's National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) and its Office of Nuclear Smuggling Detection and Deterrence (NSDD). NSDD works with international partners to counter the smuggling of radioactive and nuclear materials. As a member of the team supporting this mission, you'll help ensure program leaders have the financial information, analysis, and forecasts they need to make informed decisions and effectively manage program resources.

JOB DUTIES

As a Budget Analyst, you'll help the program understand where its resources stand today, anticipate future funding needs, and translate complex financial information into clear, actionable insights.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Support the federal budget lifecycle (PPBE) by contributing to annual financial programming, planning, budgeting, and evaluation/execution activities.
• Track and analyze program finances across contractors and national laboratories, including costs, commitments, balances, reporting requirements, and monthly reconciliations.
• Monitor financial performance and develop projections to identify emerging funding needs and recommend adjustments that help the program meet financial and carryover targets.
• Build and maintain short- and long-range forecasts, including lifecycle financial models supporting budget formulation and execution.
• Turn financial data into decision-ready information by preparing, analyzing, reconciling, and clearly communicating key findings, trends, risks, and recommendations to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Support Congressional budget activity by developing written and quantitative inputs for Congressional inquiries, including impact statements, funding decrement scenarios, and plus-up scenarios.
• Interface with Contracting Officer's Representatives (CORs) and senior program leadership to help ensure contracts are appropriately funded and program requirements are supported.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• At least one year of relevant professional experience.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including functions and tools such as VLOOKUP, SUMIFS, pivot tables, and graphing.
• Excellent attention to detail and strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex financial information into clear, concise insights for both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize, monitor, and manage multiple projects and tasks concurrently.
• Demonstrated professionalism and ability to handle sensitive information with a high degree of confidentiality.
• Ability to obtain a DOE Q security clearance (Top Secret equivalent).

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS

• Active DOE Q or Top Secret security clearance.
• Experience with governmental accounting.
• Experience interacting with federal oversight organizations.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• The position may require domestic and international travel of up to 5%.
• The role involves prolonged periods working at a desk and computer and requires the ability to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
