State of Maryland in Annapolis seeks Budget Analyst professionals to analyze operating budgets for State agencies and support policy goals. The role involves reviewing expenditures, preparing agency budgets, and advising on efficiency improvements.
Telework is eligible, with a flexible mix of in-person work and remote days. Applicants should possess strong budget/policy analysis skills, advanced Excel abilities, and the capacity to explain findings clearly in reports and presentations.
This is a special appointment position that will serve at the pleasure of the appointing authority.
The Office of Budget Analysis has a flexible telework policy, with the option to be fully in person or to telework several days a week.

This position will serve as Budget Analyst within the Maryland Department of Budget and Management. This position has direct responsibility for analysis of operating budgets to assigned State agencies.
The selected candidates should have:

Master’s degree preferred from an accredited college or university in public administration, public policy, business administration, economics, finance, or a related field. Applicants currently enrolled in a Master’s program are eligible to apply.
Bachelor’s degree and equivalent relevant experience as determined by the search committee also eligible to apply.
The grade an applicant will be hired at (Budget Analyst I, II, III or IV) will be determined by the search committee based on a combination of relevant education and work experience.
Successful candidates will be placed on the employment (eligible) list for at least one year. The resulting certified eligible list for this recruitment may be used for similar positions in this or other State agencies.
