Job summary

Maryland Department Of Budget And Management in Annapolis, MD, seeks Budget Analyst I–IV to analyze operating budgets, review expenditures, and prepare agency budgets. This special appointment may telework part-time and can be in-person on some days.

Responsibilities include reviewing expenditures, recommending efficiency improvements, and supporting budget processes with strong Excel analysis and clear reporting to senior leadership.

Qualifications

• Understanding of budget and policy analysis.
• Strong analytical skills and ability to review, manipulate and analyze data in Excel.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to write clear reports and present budget recommendations to senior management.
• Ability to work independently, in teams, and under pressure; extended hours during budget cycle.

Responsibilities

• Conduct reviews of budget expenditures for Executive Branch units.
• Make recommendations to improve efficiency for the Secretary of the Department.
• Analyze and prepare budgets for assigned agencies.
• Assist in managing the State's operating budget process.
• Review and analyze agency performance data.
