Duties

Typical work assignments will include:

  • Administrating a financial management program which includes long-range programmatic plans and the annual budget as key components.
  • Maintaining financial policies.
  • Providing recommendations and alternative approaches to improve program plans, budget proposals, cost of operations, and program accomplishments.
  • Analyzing of expenditure data to identify variables affecting costs.
  • Determining reasonable fund levels and evaluating validity of requests.

Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress.

  • You must be a U.S. Citizen or National.
  • Initial appointment is conditioned upon a satisfactory pre-employment adjudication. This includes fingerprint, credit and tax checks, and drug testing. Continued employment is subject to a favorable adjudication of a background investigation.

Qualifications

To be eligible at the GS-11 level, you must meet the definition of specialized experience. Specialized Experience: One full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 level. Specialized Experience is defined as experience performing duties such as assisting in the preparation of preliminary budget estimates and justifications; assisting with the monitoring of budget allocation and execution to ensure that operating program objectives are met; extracting and summarizing data from financial systems to inform managers about fund status; monitoring expenditures to ensure funds are used within legal and administrative constraints. Career Transition Assistance Plan (CTAP)- The CTAP provides eligible surplus and displaced competitive service employees in the Department of Justice with selection priority over other candidates for competitive service vacancies.
