Job summary

Oldham County Schools in Kentucky seeks a Custodian to maintain a clean and neat facility. This hourly, classified position reports to the School Plant Operator and requires an 8-hour workday under a 260 contract days framework.

Responsibilities

• Keeps building and premises neat and clean per schedule by School Plant Operator.
• Shovels, plows and/or sands walks as directed by School Plant Operator.
• Cleans classrooms, dusts furniture, and cleans chalkboards per schedule.
• Cleans corridors after school and during the day per schedule.
• Disinfects toilet floors daily and cleans fixtures and drinking fountains per schedule.
• Washes windows inside and out at least twice yearly.
• Clears debris from roofs, gutters, and downspouts as needed.
• Keeps floors clean and well-maintained per schedule.
• Reports major repairs to School Plant Operator promptly.
• Performs other duties as assigned by School Plant Operator.
• Removes garbage and handles OCBE equipment properly.

Terms of Employment: Compensation will be based on 260 contract days and on the board-approved 104 salary schedule. This position requires an 8-hour workday.

Minimum Qualifications

• High school graduate.
• Experience in plant maintenance preferred.
• Must have and maintain a valid driver's license.
• Push, pull or lift 40 pounds; kneel and reach above your head.

Performance Responsibilities

• Keeps building and premises, including sidewalks, driveways and play areas neat and clean at all times according to work assignment schedule prepared by the School Plant Operator.
• Shovels, plows and/or sands/salts walks and steps as directed by the School Plant Operator.
• Sweeps classrooms, dusts furniture, and cleans all chalkboards according to work assignment schedule prepared by the School Plant Operator.
• Cleans corridors after school each day and during the day according to work assignment scheduled prepared by the School Plant Operator.
• Scrubs, hoses down and disinfects toilet floors daily and cleans all sanitary fixtures and drinking fountains according to work assignment schedule prepared by the School Plant Operator.
• Washes all windows on both the inside and outside at least twice each year and more frequently if necessary according to work assignment schedule prepared by the School Plant Operator.
• Clears debris from roofs, gutters and downspouts as needed.
• Keeps all floors in a clean and attractive condition and in a good state of preservation according to work assignment schedule prepared by the School Plant Operator.
• Report major repairs needed promptly to the School Plant Operator.
• Other duties as assigned by the School Plant Operator.
• Removes garbage.
• Performs reasonable requests made by school personnel.
• Opens and secures building and notifies supervisor immediately of lost or misplaced keys of district.
• Cleans, stores and handles OCBE equipment properly.
