Job summary

Oldham County Schools seeks a Custodian to maintain the cleanliness and appearance of the assigned facility.

The role requires a high school diploma, a valid driver’s license, and the ability to lift 40 pounds and perform physical tasks. Compensation follows the 104 salary schedule and 260 contract days, with an 8-hour workday as outlined by the School Plant Operator.

Responsibilities

• Keeps building and premises neat and clean according to the work assignment schedule prepared by the School Plant Operator.
• Shovels, plows and/or sands/salts walks and steps as directed by the School Plant Operator.
• Sweeps classrooms, dusts furniture, and cleans all chalkboards according to the schedule.
• Cleans corridors after school each day and during the day per schedule.
• Disinfects toilet floors daily and cleans sanitary fixtures and drinking fountains as directed.
• Washes windows inside and out at least twice per year.
• Clears debris from roofs, gutters and downspouts as needed.
• Keeps all floors clean and in good condition per schedule.
• Reports major repairs to the School Plant Operator.
• Performs other duties as assigned by the School Plant Operator.

Minimum Qualifications

Performance Responsibilities

• Keeps building and premises, including sidewalks, driveways and play areas neat and clean at all times according to work assignment schedule prepared by the School Plant Operator.
• Shovels, plows and/or sands/salts walks and steps as directed by the School Plant Operator.
• Sweeps classrooms, dusts furniture, and cleans all chalkboards according to work assignment schedule prepared by the School Plant Operator.
• Cleans corridors after school each day and during the day according to work assignment scheduled prepared by the School Plant Operator.
• Scrubs, hoses down and disinfects toilet floors daily and cleans all sanitary fixtures and drinking fountains according to work assignment schedule prepared by the School Plant Operator.
• Washes all windows on both the inside and outside at least twice each year and more frequently if necessary according to work assignment schedule prepared by the School Plant Operator.
• Clears debris from roofs, gutters and downspouts as needed.
• Keeps all floors in a clean and attractive condition and in a good state of preservation according to work assignment schedule prepared by the School Plant Operator.
• Report major repairs needed promptly to the School Plant Operator.
• Other duties as assigned by the School Plant Operator.
• Performs reasonable requests made by school personnel.
• Opens and secures building and notifies supervisor immediately of lost or misplaced keys of district.
• Cleans, stores and handles OCBE equipment properly.
