Job summary

Xylem Tree Experts in Boone, NC is seeking a Bucket Operator to safely operate a bucket truck, remove branches from electrical lines, and support foreperson with daily tasks on the crew.

Applicants must hold a valid driver’s license, have 1–2 years line clearance experience, and demonstrate safe operation of equipment. Background checks and drug screens are required; full-time employment includes health insurance and a 401(k) plan.

Qualifications

• Two years of vegetation management experience required.
• Bucket truck operation experience required.
• Knowledge of daily maintenance and safe operation of equipment.
• Able to hear verbal instructions from a distance.
• Must have a valid driver’s license with clean driving record.
• Experience with woodchipper and skid steer mulcher operations.
• Experience with safe vehicle operations and maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Follow safe practices and enforce safety rules on site.
• Prepare equipment and materials for daily work per Foreperson's direction.
• Operate equipment as directed by Foreperson.
• Assist crew and assume leadership when required.
• Maintain and repair equipment and tools used in operations.
• Set up barriers, signs, and markers to protect workers and public.
• Complete daily reports in AMS with timesheets and billing info.

Job description

The Bucket Operator effectively and safely operates a bucket truck to remove branches and tree material from electrical lines. Valid driver's license is required. 1-2 years professional experience in line clearance operating a bucket truck is required for this role.

Essential Function

• Always follow and help enforce safe practices and rules.
• Assist in preparing equipment and materials for each day’s work at Foreperson’s direction.
• Operate equipment as directed by Foreperson.
• Help maintain and repair equipment and tools used in operations.
• Assist other crew members in all aspects of daily activities and take a leadership role when required.
• Cleans up and disposes of all debris.
• Sets up barriers, warning signs, flags, markers, etc. to protect employees and public.
• Keeps informed on new equipment, specifications, standard practices, operating procedures, and customer and company employee relations policies and practices
• Track and report mileage to Foreperson
• Perform duties for storm work as needed
• Performs daily reporting using AMS system to submit timesheets and billing information.
• Maintain above standard customer relations.
• Accident Reporting.

Education And Experience

• Two years’ experience in Vegetation Management.
• Bucket truck operation experience required.
• Knowledge of daily maintenance and safe operations of all equipment used.
• Able to hear verbal instructions from a distance.
• Must have a driver's license with a clean driving record.
• Must have skid steer w/ mulcher operation experience.
• Experience in safe operations and maintenance of vehicles and equipment.
• Must have experience operating woodchipper.
• Split dump driving experience preferred.

This position requires employees to be able to pass a background check and drug screen as required for this job.
