The Bucket Operator safely operates a bucket truck for trimming, pruning, and removal while coordinating with the ground crew to ensure efficient work.

Applicants should be comfortable working at heights, following OSHA PPE protocols, and communicating clearly with teammates.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Operate bucket truck to access canopies for trimming, pruning, and removal.
• Coordinate with ground crew to plan efficient work.
• Inspect and maintain bucket truck and equipment for safety and function.
• Trim or remove limbs with care to protect property and vegetation.
• Communicate with team to ensure safe task execution.
• Lower or cut limbs or trees using proper techniques.
• Assist in site cleanup and debris disposal.
• Report equipment issues or safety concerns to supervisor.

Bucket Operator Summary

The Bucket Operator is responsible for safely operating a bucket truck to perform tree trimming, pruning, and removal services for residential and commercial clients. The role involves working at heights, ensuring the safety of the work site, and collaborating with tree service crews to complete various tree care tasks.

Duties/ Responsibilities

• Safely operate a bucket truck to access tree canopies and perform trimming, pruning, and removal work.
• Collaborate with the ground crew to assess work requirements and assist in determining the most efficient approach.
• Inspect and maintain the bucket truck and related equipment to ensure proper functioning and safety.
• Trim or remove tree limbs and branches, ensuring minimal impact to surrounding property and vegetation.
• Communicate effectively with team members to coordinate work activities and ensure safe execution of tasks.
• Safely lower or cut down limbs, branches, or entire trees using appropriate techniques and equipment.
• Assist in the cleanup of the worksite, ensuring all debris is properly disposed of or recycled.
• Report any equipment malfunctions, safety concerns, or other issues to the supervisor in a timely manner.

Qualifications

• Previous experience operating a bucket truck or similar equipment preferred.
• Knowledge of tree care practices, including pruning, trimming, and safe removal techniques.
• Ability to work at heights and in various weather conditions.
• Follow safety protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and adhering to OSHA regulations.
• Ability to work in a team-oriented environment.
• Valid driver’s license, with a clean driving record; CDL preferred.
• Physical ability to lift heavy materials and work in demanding conditions.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift 70 pounds to shoulder height
• Flexibility, including the ability to squat and bend
• Ability to stand and/or walk for extended periods
• Ability to pull body weight up 20 feet and climb a tree
• Ability to work at heights
• Ability to work in all weather conditions and withstand extreme temperatures
• Must not exceed weight limitations for hydraulic buckets
