Responsibilities

  • Inspect the machine, tools, guards, and safety devices before starting work.
  • Review the production schedule, work order, drawings, and quality requirements.
  • Verify that the correct materials and components are available.
  • Set up and operate the CSO/buck-on equipment according to approved procedures.
  • Monitor machine operation and product quality throughout the shift.
  • Make approved adjustments to maintain proper alignment, fit, size, pressure, temperature, or position.
  • Perform first-piece and in-process inspections.
  • Identify and separate defective or questionable material.
  • Report equipment problems, safety concerns, and quality issues immediately.
  • Complete production, inspection, downtime, and scrap records accurately.
  • Perform routine cleaning, lubrication, and minor operator maintenance as authorized.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized workstation.
  • Follow all PPE, lockout/tagout, chemical-handling, and emergency procedures.
  • Communicate shift information and outstanding issues to the next operator.
  • Perform other production duties assigned by supervision.

The operator is responsible for checking that product:

  • Matches the work order and approved sample.
  • Has the correct dimensions and orientation.
  • Is properly aligned, seated, attached, or bucked on.
  • Is free of damage, contamination, burrs, cracks, loose parts, or other visible defects.
  • Is properly identified and packaged.
  • Nonconforming product must be identified, segregated, and reported according to the site quality procedure. Do not rework or release questionable material without authorization.
