Job summary

Main Industries in Virginia is seeking full-time marine and industrial brush and roll painters to touch up coatings and apply stripe coats using brush and roller.

Candidates must have at least six months of experience, be 18 years or older, pass OSHA respirator safety training, and be able to work in physically demanding environments with potential overtime. No relocation offered.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years old.
• Six months' experience as a brush and roll painter.
• Experience in physically demanding environments; confined spaces, working at heights.
• Respirator fit tested and trained in OSHA respiratory safety.
• Forklift training/certification is a plus (additional training for those using a forklift).
• Aerial man lift training/certification is a plus (additional training for those using an aerial man lift).
• Must be able to understand and follow supervisor directions.
• Must be able to understand and obey posted warnings and hazards on site.
• Drug testing and E-Verification required; background check may be required.
• Current TWIC badge is a plus.
• Reliable transportation is a must.

Responsibilities

• Touch up coatings applied by a spray painter using hand brush and roller.
• Apply stripe coats or full coating systems with brush and roller on small or hard-to-spray areas.
• Perform hand tool cleaning and/or surface preparation with pneumatic or electric tools.
• Clean using solvents, industrial vacuums, or pressure washing.

Description:

Main is hiring for full-time marine and industrial brush and roll painters. No relocation or per diem available.

A brush and roll painter applies the specified coating system via hand brush and paint rollers. The primary responsibilities of the brush and roller are to touch up coatings applied by a spray painter, apply a stripe coat by brush and roller and/or apply a full coatings system, with a brush and roller, to small, tight or hard to spray areas. Brush and rollers often times are responsible for hand tool cleaning and/or power tool surface preparation using small hand held pneumatic or electric tools. Various cleaning duties using solvent wiping, industrial vacuuming, or pressure washing are other common responsibilities of the brush and roller.

Required experience:

Six months' experience as a brush and roll painter.

• Must be 18 years' old
• Experience working in a physically demanding environment; confined spaces, working at heights
• Be respirator fit tested and trained in respiratory safety per OSHA standards
• Forklift training/certification a plus (additional training will be required once hired for those using a forklift)
• Aerial man lift training/certification a plus (additional training will be required once hired for those using an aerial man lift)
• Understand and carry out verbal directions given by supervisor
• Understand and obey all posted warning, caution, notification and/or hazards signs posted on a job site
• All candidates must submit to drug testing and E-Verification of their right to work in the US
• A criminal background check may be required
• Current TWIC badge a plus
• Reliable transportation a must

No overtime is guaranteed, but some projects do require overtime. This could be more than 40 hours during the normal Monday Friday work week, work on the weekends or both. Some projects do have a night shift. You will be expected to be at work on all days/nights assigned.
