Job summary

The City of Raleigh’s Transit Division seeks a Senior Transportation Planner to lead two major BRT corridor projects, guiding planning, design, and implementation for Raleigh’s Bus Rapid Transit program.

You will collaborate with a multi-departmental team, engage with residents, and provide technical guidance to consultants and engineers to deliver transit infrastructure that expands mobility options.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in planning or related field with 3–5 years of urban/regional or transportation planning experience.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills suitable for public speaking to residents and transit users.
• Experience coordinating with consultants and multiple internal/external departments.

Responsibilities

• Lead development of two BRT corridor projects including planning, design and engineering.
• Coordinate with selected consultants and the Federal Transit Administration on assigned BRT projects.
• Participate in cross-department teams evaluating first/last mile mobility near proposed BRT stations.
• Deliver effective community engagement and public outreach for transit initiatives.
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, boards and committees; communicate program updates.
• Create maps and visuals, lead website updates, and develop progress reports on transit improvements.
