Democracy Prep Public Schools is seeking an enthusiastic, mission-driven elementary classroom teacher for an on-site role in the Bronx/Harlem area. You will create a classroom culture with high expectations and high support, delivering rigorous lessons and facilitating active citizenship among scholars.

The position requires a Bachelor’s degree and preferably state certification, with 2+ years of urban teaching experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; state certification preferred.
• Minimum 2 years of urban teaching experience.
• Transcripts required during onboarding.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a classroom culture of high expectations and high support.
• Foster dialogue on race, identity, diversity, equity, and inclusion for staff and scholars.
• Plan and implement a coherent, research-based curriculum.
• Use diverse assessment data to refine instruction.
• Maintain strong relationships with scholars, families, and colleagues through effective communication.
• Participate in weekly coaching and professional development.
• Support the social-emotional growth of scholars and engage families and student support staff.
• Engage students in current events, community service, and cultural activities.
• Participate in school-wide events, transitions, tutoring, and leadership tasks.
