Job summary

Berkley Cincinnati seeks an experienced Surplus Lines Broker to facilitate placement of policies across Berkley Marketplace and Berkley Connect. You will quote, bind, and issue with underwriting authority and collaborate with multiple Berkley teams.

The role requires a college diploma and 5+ years in insurance, with Surplus Lines licenses preferred. Occasional travel may be required; primary location is Cincinnati, OH.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate placement of insurance policies with Berkley sister companies.
• Place coverage for trading partners through Berkley Marketplace.
• Quote, bind, and issue policies for Berkley Connect underwriting authority.
• Quote, bind, and issue for companies without underwriting authority to Berkley Connect.
• Collaborate with Account Management to transition accounts for servicing and renewal.
• Ensure compliance with Surplus Lines regulations.
• Populate Berkley Connect's Agency Management System with accurate data.
• Market Berkley Connect's capabilities to trading partners.
• Build relationships with internal teams and other Berkley companies.
• Monitor and respond to emails promptly and professionally.
• Complete special projects as directed by management.

Responsibilities

Under minimal supervision, the Broker facilitates the placement of insurance policies submitted by retail trading partners with Berkley sister companies that have joined Berkley Marketplace, contributing to business growth and supporting a highly collaborative team environment.

• Work closely with teams from multiple Berkley companies to place coverage for trading partners, leveraging the underwriting capacity of selected WR Berkley companies.
• Produce and facilitate the placement of insurance policies for opportunities submitted by retail trading partners to be written with other Berkley companies.
• Quote, bind, and issue policies for other Berkley companies that extend underwriting authority to Berkley Connect.
• Collaborate with Berkley company underwriters to quote, bind, and issue policies for companies that do not extend underwriting authority to Berkley Connect.
• Partner with the Account Management team to transition accounts for servicing and renewal activities.
• Ensure compliance with Surplus Lines regulations in the placement of Surplus Lines policies.
• Populate and update Berkley Connect's Agency Management System with accurate and current information.
• Market Berkley Connect's capabilities to trading partners to drive new business opportunities.
• Develop strong relationships with internal teams and other Berkley companies and assist management in establishing new partnerships.
• Monitor email accounts and respond promptly and professionally to email inquiries and communications.
• Complete special projects and other assignments as directed by management.

Qualifications

• Strong understanding of insurance concepts and market forces.
• Surplus Lines Broker licenses in all states, or the ability to obtain them.
• Strong customer service proficiency.
• Well organized with strong attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently.
• Ability to understand priorities and meet deadlines.
• Good oral and written communication skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, etc.).

Education Requirement

• College diploma and five or more years of insurance experience.
