Job summary

Wayne Farms LLC in Ozark, AL seeks a Farm Supervisor to oversee broiler houses for contracted growers. You will monitor house conditions, ensure bird welfare, and provide technical assistance to improve performance and reduce costs.

Job description

PRIMARY FUNCTION: Primarily responsible for overseeing broiler farms as a Company representative to contracted growers. The role monitors house conditions and bird welfare and provides technical assistance and recommendations on improving conditions, grower performance, and cost reductions for the company and growers.RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS:Act as liaison between Company and contract growers providing technical advice to growers on company expectations (i.e. building and equipment specifications, litter manipulation, farm sanitation, industry best practices, policies, procedures, bio security, etc.)Provide chick placement, catch and feed withdrawal times to growersMonitor assigned flocks (i.e. bird comfort, equipment settings, etc.) to ensure producers comply with all company policies and procedures, regulatory guidelines and federal and State policies, regulations and laws when handling poultry; report noncompliance and/or abnormalities to appropriate personnelTrack, analyze and record bird mortality rates, communicating anomalies to appropriate personnel as neededMaintain feed tank inventories ordering feed and coordinating deliveries to ensure proper feed is delivered to growers in a timely mannerFollow and promote all safety initiatives helping to maintain a zero accident culturePerform additional relevant duties as assignedSUPERVISOR RESPONSIBILITIES:There are no direct reporting responsibilities with this position; however, this position is a Leader of People position with required competencies: Strategic Agility, Business Acumen, Building Effective Teams, Customer Focus and Command Skills.EDUCATION and CERTIFICATIONS:High School diploma or equivalent and required experience or Associates degree in Poultry Science, Agricultural Science or related field; Bachelors’ degree preferredEXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:Minimum two (2) years’ live poultry experience in a similar environmentKnowledge of regulatory requirements surrounding animal welfare and food productionStrong computer (i.e. Microsoft (Word, Excel, etc.) and math skillsStrong customer focus with the ability to communicate with internal and external customers in a timely and professional mannerMust have exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to effectively communicate in EnglishStrong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks while maintaining attention to detailSelf-starter who demonstrates strong initiative and sense of urgency, with the ability to work in a fast paced environmentMust possess a strong customer-centric attitude, high energy level and a strong sense of urgencySAFETY REQUIREMENTS:Follow departmental and company safety policies and programsMust wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times in areas where requiredRead and understand MSDS sheetsMaintain updated knowledge and training/ certification on relevant safety topicsMay be required to enter confined spacePHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:Ability to lift 50 lbs; occasionally required to lift overheadWalks in an outside environment (including inclement weather conditions) on a daily basisAbility to travel between assigned locationsWe are an equal opportunity employer and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, disability status, protected veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law.
