Overview
The Broadcaster is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Public Relations Department, which encompasses all facets of public and media relations.
This role pays an annual salary of $44,000 - $50,000.

Responsibilities
- Work closely with the Director of Marketing to develop media relations initiatives related to the promotion and ticket selling of Reading Royals games
- Serve as Broadcaster for all Reading Royals home games
- Excellent writing skills to contribute to editorial content on the website, souvenir event programs, engagemedia and convey the nuances of Reading Royals hockey and the ECHL
- Aggressively generate fresh, creative story angles and sources to provide to both local and national media across multiple beats (hockey, lifestyle, business, entertainment) on a year-round basis
- Maintain an accurate and timely distribution list of local, regional, and national media (individuals and outlets) and other stakeholders
- Primary liaison with ECHL, national and local media on behalf of the front office, coaching staff, and players for all interview requests
- Create monthly and seasonal public relations plans that encompass player publicity as well as player participation in marketing, ticket sales, ad sales, promotions, and community relations objectives
- Oversee game night public relations effort including game night set-up, distribution of statistical information as well as game notes and interviews
- Oversee production of various publications including Media Guides (pre, regular and post seasons)
- Coordinate all player, Coach and President/GM appearances for all PR, marketing, ticket sales, community relations and promotional events
- Create and coordinate all media and team events
- Schedule, implement and edit of videos, podcasts, event video wrap-ups for distribution to media contacts and other stakeholders throughout the year
- Actively contribute to staff meetings new ideas integrating media relations efforts aimed at increasing both media coverage and ticket sales
- Coordinate and execute press conferences
- Respond to requests for information from the media
- Manage media center and press box during game nights. This includes supplies, coordination of food and beverages, press releases, quotes, press conferences, interview requests and the distribution of information to media and general public. This also includes management of part-time staff and off-ice officials.
- Research and propose new public relations and promotions concepts
- Write and edit a variety of materials, including website content, press releases, video news release stat sheets, press kit information, etc.
- Assist in the development and production of the annual media guide and other materials as assigned
- Update and maintain online media webpage
- Respond to, or direct, media inquiries as appropriate, in a timely fashion
- Proactively pursue national media mentions for the Reading Royals
- All other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, Marketing, Sports Management, or another related field required
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in Public Relations with a pro sports team required; supervisory experience strongly preferred
- Media Relations experience
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills in the English language required
- Ability to travel and work beyond normal business hours, including nights, weekends and holidays as based on the team schedule
