Job summary

WTAE-TV in Pittsburgh, owned by Hearst Communications, Inc., seeks a full-time TV/Multimedia Engineering Technician responsible for maintaining station equipment and IT support from acquisition to distribution.

You will work with ENG/DSNG/production gear, transmitter sites, and IT networks, reporting to the Assistant Chief Engineer. The role requires hands-on delivery, independent work, and travel to remote sites.

Qualifications

  • Excellent troubleshooting skills with ability to plan installations and document work clearly.
  • Knowledge of desktop and server operating systems (Windows/Linux).
  • Networking support for LAN/WAN devices and systems.
  • In-depth knowledge of video production/television systems.
  • Ability to work independently and with a team; flexible shifts.
  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to remote sites.
  • Experience in TV/Video/IT environments is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain news-gathering equipment, ENG cameras, field gear, and support devices.
  • Support IT systems and hardware/software, including infrastructure and end-user support.
  • Maintain production equipment such as robotic cameras, play out servers, graphics devices, lighting, weather, and audio intercom.
  • Oversee transmitter sites, microwave/ satellite systems, and on-air automation.
