Job summary

WMUR, the ABC affiliate in Manchester, NH, is seeking a Broadcast Systems Technician to maintain and support both broadcast and IT systems that keep our station on the air.

You will work across networking, servers, broadcast equipment, and live production systems, reporting to the Engineering Director, and collaborating with News, Production, and Sales teams.

This role requires rotating shifts including mornings/evenings/weekends and travel to transmitter sites and remote locations.

Qualifications

  • This role requires hands-on experience with managed network switches and IP-based systems.
  • Experience supporting servers, workstations, and network infrastructure.
  • Familiarity with broadcast equipment and production environments.

  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair broadcast and IT systems to ensure reliable daily operations
  • Execute and improve preventative maintenance programs
  • Provide technical support to News, Production, Creative Services, Sales, and Administration
  • Support live broadcasts and remote productions, including setup and troubleshooting
  • Install, configure, and maintain networking equipment, servers, and workstations
  • Travel as needed to transmitter sites, remote locations, and live event venues
  • Document systems, workflows, and technical procedures
  • Collaborate with engineering and IT teams to support station operations and new technology deployments

Job description

WMUR, the ABC affiliate in Manchester, NH has an opening for a Broadcast Systems Technician. This role is responsible for maintaining and supporting both broadcast and IT systems that keep our stations on the air and operating at a high level. This position is ideal for someone with a strong technical foundation who enjoys troubleshooting, learning new systems, and working in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.


You will work across a wide range of technologies including networking, servers, broadcast equipment, and live production systems. This position reports to the Engineering Director.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair broadcast and IT systems to ensure reliable daily operations

Requirements

This role participates in a structured, rotating schedule that may include early mornings, evenings, and weekends. The rotation is designed to provide balanced coverage while ensuring exposure to all aspects of station operations.

Experience with managed network switches and IP-based systems.

Supporting servers, workstations, and network infrastructure

  • Familiarity with broadcast equipment and production environments
  • Understanding of TCP/IP networking, VPNs, and LAN environments
  • Experience with Windows desktop and server operating systems
  • Cisco, VMware, Microsoft, or similar certifications
  • SBE certification
  • Military or technical training background
