Job summary

Amazon is seeking a Broadcast Systems Engineer for Prime Video Live Sports to design, deploy, and operate compute and virtualization infrastructure powering live events. You will join a core engineering team collaborating with network engineers, technicians, and architects on the Culver City campus to deliver scalable broadcast systems.

The role emphasizes automation, patch management, on-call support during broadcasts, documentation, and security-first design in partnership with Amazon

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience.
  • 6+ years of hands-on experience in broadcast systems engineering within live production or media infrastructure environments.
  • Linux, Windows and macOS system administration experience at scale.
  • Hands-on experience administering enterprise hypervisor platforms (Proxmox VE, VMware vSphere) including VM and container lifecycle, storage configuration, and HA management.
  • Experience provisioning and maintaining bare metal servers: IPMI/iDRAC/iLO, BIOS management, RAID configuration, and hardware troubleshooting.
  • Scripting and automation experience (Bash, Python, Node.js) applied to infrastructure tasks.
  • Solid broadcast networking fundamentals: IP addressing, VLANs, network segmentation, multicast, basic L3 routing.
  • Experience configuring and maintaining infrastructure monitoring and alerting platforms (Grafana, Prometheus, Zabbix, Nagios, or equivalent).
  • Working knowledge of broadcast signal formats and transport methods (SDI, ST 2110, SRT, JPEG‑XS, AoIP/Dante).

Responsibilities

  • Deploy and integrate production systems with network and broadcast engineers, vendors, and staff.
  • Manage full lifecycle of server infrastructure: procurement support, provisioning, configuration, patching, decommissioning.
  • Administer Linux, Windows, and macOS systems at scale across production and engineering environments.
  • Maintain a systematic patching program across the fleet with testing pipelines and rollback procedures.
  • Automate repeatable tasks by building scripts, pipelines, and tooling.
  • Manage and maintain Proxmox VE hypervisor clusters and remote machines for broadcast apps and services.
  • Maintain and improve monitoring and alerting across compute, virtualization, storage, network, and broadcast systems.
  • Maintain records for all infrastructure assets including IP space.
  • Provide on-call technical support during live broadcast events.
  • Create and maintain documentation including runbooks and inventory records.
  • Security-first design in collaboration with Amazon Security.
