Job Description: GDC Broadcast Support Engineer

The NBA is seeking a GDC Broadcast Support Engineer responsible for managing and supporting the Game Distribution Center in Secaucus, NJ, and remote productions, including cloud-based workflows. The role involves managing multiple broadcast systems and workflows to support Direct-to-Consumer content, requiring a broad knowledge of broadcast systems, especially IP-based equipment, uncompressed/compressed video formats, multicast networking, and related protocols.

The individual will be part of the Systems Engineering & Support group, supporting live event services, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring operational excellence with a focus on customer experience.

Major Responsibilities:
  • Maintain on-air operations of digital video and audio control systems, automation systems, and related infrastructure.
  • Support and troubleshoot broadcast systems and IP network equipment such as routers, switchers, codecs, and network switches.
  • Collaborate with Arena Engineers, Production, IT, Operations, and Vendors.
  • Support live environments for the Game Distribution Center, including on-premises and cloud services.
  • Provide troubleshooting support to ensure operational standards and uptime.
  • Work flexible shifts in a 24/7 production environment.
Required Education / Experience:
  • 2-5 years in broadcast IT or technical engineering.
  • College degree in Communications, Engineering, or related field; significant field experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
Skills / Knowledge Attributes:
  • Knowledge of broadcast media standards, workflows, and technologies, including routing, switching, encoding, and audio processing.
  • Experience with core routing and switching design, configuration, and troubleshooting.
  • Understanding of IP networking protocols (IGMPv2/v3).
  • Familiarity with SMPTE standards such as ST-292M, ST-424M, ST-2110, ST-2059, IEEE 1588, ST-2022-7, SCTE-104.
  • Ability to work independently and creatively.

Salary Range: $90,000 - $115,000
