Job Posting Title: Broadcast Maintenance Technician (Expression of Interest) (As-Needed)) Req ID: 10160861 Job Description: ABC Network News Engineering Operations has daily hire opportunities in our broadcast maintenance department at our studios in Washington, DC. This role supports a wide variety of broadcast systems that provide television production, transmission, communications, monitoring and various technical support for award-winning ABC News shows and platforms. It is a great opportunity for someone who wants to be an important part of a cutting-edge network level broadcast operation. The candidate must possess working knowledge and skills in television technology and engineering. In particular, the candidate should have a good understanding of studio, transmission and editing systems. Three or more years of broadcast maintenance experience is preferred. Knowledge in network-based Video and Audio technology such as SMPTE 2110, AES 67 and DANTE would be helpful. As a broadcast maintenance technician, the candidate will work as part of a team to provide ongoing support for a 24/7 television broadcast facility including the installations of new systems. The ABC Washington Bureau has multiple studios, control rooms, editing systems and other broadcast resources that the candidate will assist in building and maintaining including:

  • Sony and Ross Production Switchers
  • SSL and Lawo Audio Consoles
  • Miranda, GV and Evertz Virtual Monitor Walls
  • Sony, Panasonic, Canon Studio Camera Systems
  • RTS and Riedel Intercom Systems
  • NVision routers with NV9000 control systems
  • Evertz routers and Magnum control systems
  • AVID NEXIS editing server and AVID editing clients
  • Grass Valley K2 editing servers and PP editing clients
  • Telemetrics EVS Studio and field Robotics
  • Multi-dish Satellite Earth Station Microwave and Bonded Cellular News Gathering Fiber Optic systems using CWDM and DWDM

Certifications in any of the above systems is a helpful, and ABC can provide additional training.

This role will be covered by the National Association of Broadcast Employees and Technicians – Communication Workers of America - ABC collective bargaining agreement.

The base pay actually offered may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience, among other factors. The pay rate for this role in Washington, D.C. is $65.18 per hour.
