Job summary

WCBD TV, an NBC Affiliate station owned by Nexstar Media, is located in the Lowcountry area of Charleston, SC. We seek an entry-level Engineer with Broadcast and IT experience or an education/work-equivalent background to master all the responsibilities in a timely manner.

The role covers installing, testing, updating, repairing and maintaining hardware/systems for both broadcasting and business operations, minimizing interruptions and working with the Chief Engineer on IT networks.

Qualifications

• Degree in Information Technology or Broadcasting or equivalent experience.
• Minimum two years with digital electronics in a TV broadcasting environment.
• Experience evaluating, installing, maintaining and repairing broadcasting and IT systems.
• Experience with network administration and data security using Cisco, HP and Juniper hardware.
• Advanced experience with Microsoft Office and OS; Adobe Suite for video/graphics.
• Experience with Mac and iOS; fiberoptic systems and video routing.
• Ability to work with Ross Production Equipment/Automation and various transmitters.
• Strong troubleshooting, multi-project management, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Install, test, update, repair and maintain hardware and systems for broadcasting and business operations.
• Minimize interruptions by rapidly identifying causes of failures.
• Work with Chief Engineer on IT network installation, maintenance and documentation.
• Perform other duties, extend hours, and work various shifts as needed.
