Job summary

WLFL/WRDC is seeking a full-time Broadcast Engineer to install and maintain video, audio, and broadcast equipment. Responsibilities span server-based playout systems, non-linear editors, master control, routing, encoders, automation, data networks, and transmission equipment.

The role requires hands-on maintenance of transmitters, RF gear, cameras, and related gear, with strong problem-solving and teamwork.

Qualifications

  • Experience with RF equipment (UHF high power and microwave) and broadcast hardware.
  • Ability to read and understand electronic schematics and system diagrams.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work without direct supervision.
  • Willingness to take on-call duties in rotation with the engineering team.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and repair transmitters (UHF TV, Microwave, Fiber, satellite) and associated equipment.
  • Provide technical and operational support to users.
  • Consult with engineering management and other engineers on technical issues.
  • Produce CAD diagrams of signal flow for documentation on work performed.

Job description

WLFL/WRDC is looking for a full-time BroadcastEngineer! This individual will be responsible for installing and maintaining video, audio, and other equipment associated with television broadcasting. This includes server-based record and play-out systems, non-linear editors, master control, production, and routing switchers, Satellite IRDs, encoders, automation, data networks, and broadcast transmission equipment.

Job responsibilities will include:
  • Maintenance and repair of transmitters (UHF TV, Microwave, Fiber, satellite, etc.), receivers, cameras, switchers, graphic systems, audio equipment, video tape systems, routers, automation/editing systems, intercoms, two-way radios, monitors, and display systems
  • Provide technical and operational support to users
  • Consult and communicate with engineering management and other engineers on technical issues as required
  • Provide specific engineering signal flow diagrams for CAD documentation on all work performed on technical systems
  • Perform all technical work to engineering standards and practices
What skills do you need to be successful in our role?
  • Solid understanding of core hardware, computer systems, electrical and electronic systems
  • Ability to read and understand electronic schematics, system diagrams, and follow written troubleshooting instructions
  • Experience working with RF equipment: UHF high power and microwave
  • Self-motivated and the ability to work efficiently without direct supervision
  • Confidence in troubleshooting problems and effectively communicating solutions to the engineering team
  • Hold a valid driver's license
  • Must be capable of taking on-call duties in rotation with the rest of the engineering department
  • Ability to work on ladders, stand for long periods of time, and lift equipment up to 50 lbs.
