Job summary

WSB TV Atlanta, part of Cox Media Group, seeks a Broadcast Director to lead live and taped newscasts, weather-driven coverage, and related programs including webcasts, OTT, sports specials, and political debates.

You will work with show producers, studio staff and technicians to deliver clean, high-quality broadcasts that meet the Cox standard and brand, with schedules that may include early mornings, evenings and weekends.

Qualifications

• Minimum five years directing experience in a medium or major market.
• Proficiency in newscast automation systems (Ignite, Ross Overdrive, Sony ELC).
• Familiarity with Avid, ENPS, INEWS, News Cutter, Chyron and robotics is preferred.
• Ability to adapt to news technology.

Responsibilities

Job Title: Broadcast Director - WSB TV

Position Overview

WSB TV Atlanta has an exciting opportunity for a Broadcast Director. This role is responsible for directing fast paced newscasts driven by weather and breaking news, as well as public affairs shows, webcasts, OTT, Sports Specials, and live Political Debates.

This role is responsible for the execution of live and taped programs. The Broadcast director works closely with the show producers, studio technicians and other roles in executing clean, crisp newscasts in line with the WSB standard and brand.

Schedules may include early mornings, evenings, and weekends.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Working with show producers, floor directors, prompter operators, editors and other roles in real time in the execution of live newscasts


• Pre-show collaboration with producers, editors, graphic coordinators, floor crew and assistant directors to ensure the shows are fast paced, clean and executed to the highest standards

Minimum Qualifications

• A minimum of five years Directing experience in a medium or major market is required


• Must be proficient in newscast automation, Ignite, Ross Overdrive, or Sony ELC

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of Avid systems, ENPS, INEWS, News Cutter, Vinten Robotics, audio mixing and Chyron


• Must have an ability to adapt to news technology
