City of Pharr is seeking a Broadband ISP Specialist to maintain stable connectivity for City operations and FTTH customers. The role is onsite, full-time, supporting fiber, wired, and wireless networks with hands-on maintenance and documentation.
The ideal candidate will have FTTH and LAN/WAN monitoring experience, strong communication skills, and proficiency with MS Office tools, ensuring secure, reliable service for the City and residents.
The Broadband ISP Specialist supports the Pharr Connect Fiber Division by helping maintain stable, secure connectivity for City operations and fiber-to-the-home/premise customers. This onsite, full-time position contributes to reliable service through hands-on network support and documentation.
Key responsibilities include assisting with administration and routine maintenance of fiber optic, wired, and wireless networks; supporting operation of the Citywide private/public FTTH network; cutting, splicing, terminating, and troubleshooting fiber; installing cable lines underground and on poles; verifying device connectivity; running and labeling fiber/network cabling and ports using approved tools; tracking and resolving issues through the work order system; and following City installation standards and data/network security requirements. On-call support after hours may be assigned.
Required qualifications/skills include knowledge of FTTH practices, LAN/WAN and wireless monitoring, and broadband ISP diagnostic tools; sound judgment; strong written/oral communication; Microsoft Word/Excel/PowerPoint proficiency; and a consistent customer-service mindset with professional appearance.

You are onsite and ready to start promptly, beginning with a quick review of service status and open requests. The day balances planned work with time-sensitive needs, with priorities shifting as updates come in. You coordinate with teammates and vendors, keep stakeholders informed, and document progress clearly so handoffs are smooth. The schedule may flex to support operational coverage (including evenings, weekends, holidays, and Saturday hours), and you may also attend City training, meetings, or special events as scheduled.
