The community you’ll be caring for:

Britain Development, located within the B.E. Smith Family Center, is an important outreach program of AdventHealth Shawnee Mission, touching the lives of more than 5,000 children with special needs since 1972. Dedicated to serving children with special needs from birth through six years of age, Britain Development provides a unique program that involves family and friends in the process of therapeutic treatment and education.

Individualized programs are shaped for each child and family by a team of physical, occupational, and music therapists, speech language pathologists, early childhood special education teachers, behavior analysts, social workers, and paraprofessionals.

The role you’ll contribute:

Britain Development is an early intervention program for children from birth through six years of age with special needs. The Pathways Program is an early intervention program within Britain Development that is specifically designed to serve the needs of young children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder.

The Behavior Technician, under the supervision of the Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA), is responsible for conducting individual and group treatment to assist children in developing maximum cognitive, social, self-help, communication, and motor skills. The Behavior Technician will assist the BCBA, teachers, and therapists in various settings and work closely with parents and other professional staff. The technician also helps maintain a clean and hygienic environment and organizes data and programs for children, supporting the center’s operations.

The Behavior Technician demonstrates leadership and a commitment to professional growth. They serve as a role model for the mission, vision, and values of AdventHealth Shawnee Mission.

Qualifications:

The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed:

Required qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • No previous experience required
  • Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) certification through BACB required within 90 days of hire

Preferred qualifications:

  • 1+ years of related experience
  • RBT certification
  • CPR certification through the American Heart Association
  • First Aid Certification
