You will draft, edit, and finalize briefs in federal courts nationwide, manage settlement motions, and coordinate with litigation teams to align briefing with strategy and deadlines.

Qualifications

  • JD and active license in good standing
  • Significant experience drafting briefs and motions in federal courts
  • Wage‑and‑hour / FLSA experience
  • Strong knowledge of federal motion practice and procedural rules
  • Excellent legal research, writing, and analytical skills
  • Ability to work independently on complex briefing assignments

  • Draft, edit, and finalize motion and appellate briefs in federal wage‑and‑hour matters
  • Handle dispositive and non‑dispositive motions and discovery‑related motions
  • Manage settlement approval motions and settlement-related briefing
  • Lead legal research and analysis related to FLSA and wage‑and‑hour issues
  • Ensure compliance with Federal Rules of Civil Procedure and Federal Rules of Appellate Procedure
  • Collaborate with litigation teams to align briefing with case strategy
  • Track briefing schedules, court orders, and post‑judgment deadlines

Position Description Overview

We are seeking an experienced Briefing Attorney to support wage‑and‑hour (FLSA) litigation through motion and appellate briefing only. This role is not a general litigation or trial position. It is designed for an attorney whose primary strength is legal research, writing, and federal motion practice. The ideal candidate is highly comfortable handling briefing in federal courts nationwide, including settlement‑related motion practice and appeals.

Responsibilities
  • Draft, edit, and finalize motion and appellate briefs in federal wage‑and‑hour matters, including:
  • Dispositive and non‑dispositive motions
  • Discovery‑related motions
  • Settlement approval motions
  • Handle settlement motion practice, including:
  • Motions seeking court approval of FLSA settlements
  • Guiding cases through final approval orders
  • Supporting settlement‑related appeals when necessary
  • Lead legal research and analysis related to FLSA and wage‑and‑hour issues
  • Apply and ensure compliance with: Federal Rules of Civil Procedure, Federal Rules of Appellate Procedure, Local and judge‑specific rules across U.S. federal courts
  • Collaborate with litigation teams to align briefing with case strategy
  • Track briefing schedules, court orders, and post‑judgment deadlines
Required Qualifications
  • JD and active license in good standing
  • Significant experience drafting briefs and motions in federal courts
  • Wage‑and‑hour / FLSA experience
  • Strong knowledge of federal motion practice and procedural rules
  • Excellent legal research, writing, and analytical skills
  • Ability to work independently on complex briefing assignments
Preferred
  • Experience Federal appellate briefing experience
  • Experience with class or collective action settlement approvals
  • Background in motion‑heavy wage‑and‑hour litigation
